Win a trip to space
The Prize

Be a pioneer in the New Scientist Space Adventure!

To date, there have only been four space tourists... you could be next...

Sub-orbital flight is the next giant leap for commercial passenger travel. Today, with flight testing of commercial reusable launch vehicles (RLVs) underway, sub-orbital flight is closer than ever. Defined as any mission that flies out of the atmosphere but does not reach the speeds needed to sustain continuous Earth orbit, sub-orbital spaceflight allows passengers to look down at the brilliant curvature of the Earth as they would from orbit. As we enter this new frontier, your dreams of space travel could become reality.
The New Scientist Space Adventure winner will have a unique and historic opportunity to participate in the birth of the commercial space travel industry, and to help pave the way for future generations of explorers.
The sub-orbital flight will be provided by a company called Space Adventures, who have already sent private space explorers into orbit. Sub-orbital spacecraft are still being perfected, so Space Adventures estimates that this prize launch will take place in 2009.
