Integrated Circuit Board

In this brave new world of technology and communication there are so many wonderful ideas and patents that have been applied for in ever greater numbers. But maybe it should not be these beautiful flashing objects that we celebrate but a more humble object that should be revered. A shy little device that hides itself away as though it was embarrassed by its own existence. It is time that the modest ‘Integrated Circuit Board’ should be blinded by the spotlight and takes a bow.

Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce are both credited with this incredible idea. In a single stroke the pair managed to drop the price of electronic components ‘by a factor of a million to one. This one piece of ingenuity allowed the electronic industry and the modern world to take off and exist in its gigantic form that it is today.

So Integrated Circuit Board come out from behind those chips and cables and take a bow. It is your small shoulders upon which this huge modern world is being supported.
