www - we are worldwide
I don't think one can put a patent on the internet as such, but some of the technology on which it is based, might have one. Anyway, thanks to it, I was able to receive your question the day after you put a question mark behind it. In 24 hours you'll be receiving answers from all over the world. No lost parcels or postmen afraid of the dog. No interference in the message. No censorship (for the time being, that is, and avoiding certain terms that could attract the attention of central and other more or less intelligent agencies). If the world has become a village, then we have the best possible local newspaper about what's happening around every corner. There's a lot to be filtered out and the need for reference points and trustworthy guides is bigger than ever. But hey, even that's a new business, putting people to work without standing still in traffic (except when the server's down or a page overloaded.) Every invention has its downside, but we haven't even seen all the possibilities of the internet yet. Science fiction becoming fact every day. Bless the web!
