English patent 814 - Water Closet

Against all the technological devices that always seem to be the invention of the century when they are just "gadgets" the water closet is the most useful and less attractive invention. So useful that we forget it when we talk about inventions assuming that it has always been there. Unforgettable times spent keeping our "humanity" safe. We are not animals - we think - we are civilized. Why?. Because we have the water closet. It is a big difference and what makes the humans be humans should be considered the most important contribution of human knowledge.
